The Gombe State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Chinwe Nwachukwu, has commended 1,268 Batch A, Stream I corps members for successfully completing their service year in the state.

Speaking during a low-key passing-out ceremony at the zonal office on Thursday, Nwachukwu praised their dedication and contributions to national development.

In her farewell address, Nwachukwu revealed that 16 corps members are set to face disciplinary actions, while 21 others will be remobilized for various offenses. A copy of the speech was made available to our correspondent.

She said, “1,268 Batch A Stream I Corps members are passing out; those with disciplinary cases are 16 and 21 for remobilisation.”

The coordinator expressed her pride in the accomplishments of the corps members and thanked them for their sacrifices and contributions to the socio-economic development of Gombe State. She emphasized their impact in areas such as education, health, agriculture, and community development.

“My dear compatriots of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream I service year, I heartily salute you for the successful completion of your sojourn in Gombe State for the one-year mandatory national service to the nation and humanity at large,” Nwachukwu stated. “I am filled with great joy and very proud of all you have accomplished during the service year.”

Nwachukwu encouraged the outgoing corps members to embrace the lessons learned during their service year and the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme. She urged them to apply the knowledge and skills gained in their future endeavors, whether through further education, career pursuits, or entrepreneurship.

“As you prepare to move on to the next level of your lives, I encourage you to take with you the training, skills, education, and knowledge you have acquired in different capacities during the service year and apply them to your future endeavors,” she added.

The coordinator also highlighted the importance of the relationships built during the service year, encouraging the corps members to sustain these connections as they promote cultural understanding and national unity.

“You have truly become ambassadors of the Scheme in unity, peace, and progress,” she concluded.
