Suspended RCCG Pastor Launches New Ministry

Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, the suspended senior pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish, has unveiled a new ministry named The Family Fellowship in Lagos.

The inaugural service of the new fellowship was held on Sunday morning at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, and was marked by jubilation and joyous dancing. A viral video shared on Monday captured the celebratory atmosphere as Pastor Iluyomade and his congregation praised God.

Taking to Instagram, Iluyomade announced the launch of The Family Fellowship and extended an open invitation to the public. He wrote, “The Family Fellowship invites you specially. Join us tomorrow at the Civic Centre for a special time in the Lord’s presence. Promises to be a great experience.”

Pastor Iluyomade and his wife, Pastor Siju, were suspended by the RCCG in June 2024 following controversy over an elaborate 60th birthday celebration hosted by Siju shortly after the tragic death of Herbert Wigwe, a key church member and former CEO of Access Bank, along with his wife and son in a helicopter crash.

The celebration, held just weeks after Wigwe’s passing, drew widespread criticism, with many labeling the timing as insensitive. The RCCG Governing Council subsequently convened a panel to investigate the matter, resulting in the Iluyomades’ three-month suspension and reassignment to worship at the church’s headquarters in Ebute Metta, Lagos.

Their suspension was further scrutinized when the couple was disinvited from the Wigwe family’s funeral.

With the establishment of The Family Fellowship, the Iluyomades are set to continue their spiritual mission outside the RCCG framework.
