A group of retired generals refuted claims that former NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Tsiga, had been released from captivity.
Brigadier General Ismaila Abdullahi (Rtd.) addressed journalists in Kaduna, expressing disappointment over the silence of authorities regarding Tsiga’s prolonged abduction.
He stated that false reports about Tsiga’s release had been circulating, but the retired general remained in the kidnappers’ custody.
“As of today, March 7, 2025, General Tsiga has spent exactly thirty days in captivity without any government intervention,” he said.
Criticism of Government, ACF, and Lack of Action
The retired generals criticized both the federal and Katsina State governments for failing to address General Tsiga’s abduction situation properly.
They lamented that despite Tsiga’s dedicated service, no official from the government had contacted his family or shown concern.
“It is unacceptable that someone who served this nation has been abandoned completely without any official expression of sympathy,” he stated.
Additionally, they condemned the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) for prioritizing political controversies over Tsiga’s abduction and prolonged suffering.
“The ACF leadership ignored Tsiga’s case but issued a statement about the scandal involving Senators Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan,” he noted.
Appeal to the Nigerian Army for More Support
While acknowledging the security agencies’ efforts, the generals urged the Nigerian Army to do more in handling this situation.
They specifically requested military officers visit Tsiga’s family, providing assurance and support during this challenging period.
“We know the Army is working, but visiting his family would at least offer them some comfort and reassurance,” he added.
