The Association for Students Social Welfare (ASSW) has received an official invitation to participate in the Korea-Nigeria Tech Sports Event 2026, in what stakeholders describe as a significant milestone for youth-focused innovation in Nigeria.
The invitation, extended by FIDA Nigeria, positions the student-focused organisation within a global framework aimed at advancing technology-driven sports and youth development.
ASSW is led by its Founder and Executive Director, Victor Adetolaju, who described the development as a defining moment for Nigerian students and young innovators.
The Korea-Nigeria Tech Sports Event 2026 is a collaborative initiative between FIDA Korea and FIDA Nigeria. The event will showcase Drone Soccer, an emerging sport that integrates drone technology with competitive team play, reflecting the growing intersection between technology and sports globally.
Scheduled to hold on Saturday, April 4, 2026, the event will take place at the Caverton Aviation Training Centre, located within the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
As part of the programme, ASSW will be formally presented with a Membership and Partnership Certificate in recognition of its contributions to youth development and innovation. The recognition is expected to strengthen the organisation’s role in promoting skills acquisition and technological advancement among Nigerian students.
Speaking on the development, Adetolaju said the invitation represents more than participation in an event, describing it as the beginning of a new phase for youth engagement in innovation-driven initiatives.
He noted that collaboration with international stakeholders in drone technology and sports would open opportunities for Nigerian youths in areas such as leadership, technical development, and global partnerships.
Industry observers say the inclusion of Nigerian student organisations in such initiatives reflects a growing emphasis on integrating young people into emerging global sectors, particularly those driven by technology and innovation.
The Association for Students Social Welfare, a Nigeria-based organisation, focuses on advocacy, education, and youth empowerment through programmes designed to support students’ holistic development.
Organisers of the Korea-Nigeria Tech Sports Event say the initiative is aimed at fostering cross-border collaboration, encouraging creativity, and equipping young participants with skills relevant to the evolving global digital economy.
