The Students Chamber of Commerce, an initiative of the Association for Students Social Welfare (ASSW), has secured strategic partnership status for the 2026 Africa Day Celebration, positioning Nigerian students and young entrepreneurs for wider participation in continental trade and economic engagements.
The Africa Day 2026 celebration, organised by the Afro-Caribbean Chamber of Culture & Tourism in collaboration with international and continental partners, is scheduled to hold in Abuja from May 19 to 20, 2026.
The event is expected to convene stakeholders from across Africa and the diaspora, including trade institutions, private sector leaders, cultural representatives, and development organisations focused on strengthening Africa’s economic and cultural integration.
According to organisers, this year’s programme will focus heavily on trade knowledge, enterprise development, youth inclusion, and cross-border collaboration under the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
A major feature of the two-day event will be knowledge sessions led by experts from the African Trade Centre and affiliated institutions, where participants will receive insights into intra-African trade, export opportunities, market access, and trade facilitation systems across the continent.
The programme will also expose participants to financing and advisory opportunities designed to support African businesses and improve competitiveness in global markets.
Activities lined up for the celebration include the Global Africa Liberation Walk on May 19, expected to bring together youth groups, institutions, cultural representatives, and stakeholders in a symbolic procession promoting African unity, resilience, and Afro-Caribbean collaboration.
The second day of the programme, scheduled for May 20 at the African Trade Centre in Abuja, will focus on capacity building and strategic engagement sessions aimed at equipping students and young entrepreneurs with practical knowledge for participation in regional and global trade.
The sessions are also expected to facilitate direct engagement between participants, trade attachés, cultural representatives, and private sector stakeholders, creating opportunities for partnerships, mentorship, and market access.
The inclusion of the Students Chamber of Commerce as a strategic partner is being viewed as a significant development for youth participation in continental economic conversations.
Chairman of the Students Chamber of Commerce, Victor Adetolaju, MITPN, is expected to attend alongside other partners of the chamber during the high-level engagements.
The chamber said its participation is aimed at supporting the development of an inclusive economic ecosystem driven by grassroots participation, innovation, and access to opportunities for young Africans.
Speaking on the development, the organisation said the partnership would help position African students as active contributors to the continent’s economic transformation rather than passive observers.
Observers say Africa’s growing youth population continues to place increased attention on policies and initiatives that connect young people to enterprise development, trade opportunities, and innovation-driven growth.
The Students Chamber of Commerce noted that the partnership would also enable students to contribute fresh perspectives to discussions around enterprise, policy, and continental collaboration.
Africa Day 2026 is expected to serve as a major platform for advancing conversations around culture, commerce, and African integration while strengthening ties between Africa and the diaspora.
