Students Delegation Engages Afreximbank on Global Africa Trade in Abuja

A delegation of student leaders led by the Founder of the Association for Students Social Welfare (ASSW) and Chairman of the Students Chamber of Commerce, Victor Adetolaju, has engaged officials of Afreximbank at the African Trade Centre in Abuja as part of activities marking the Pre–Africa Day Celebration.

The strategic engagement, hosted by Afreximbank in collaboration with the Afro Caribbean Chamber of Culture and Tourism, brought together student representatives, trade stakeholders, diplomatic figures, and development partners to discuss opportunities in Global Africa Trade and continental economic integration.

The Students Chamber of Commerce under ASSW participated as a partner and member of the Chamber, reaffirming its commitment to promoting youth participation in Africa’s growing trade ecosystem.

Also present at the engagement were representatives of strategic partner organizations, including the International Forum for Peace and Diplomacy, alongside other collaborators focused on advancing Africa’s trade, diplomacy, and development objectives.

During the session, participants received insights into Africa’s evolving trade landscape, with discussions centered on navigating trade corridors across the continent, leveraging Afreximbank’s financial and trade platforms, and understanding institutional frameworks driving intra-African commerce and global market expansion.

Culture and Trade Attachés from several African embassies in Nigeria also attended the event, fostering diplomatic dialogue and strengthening regional cooperation among participating countries and institutions.

Speaking during the engagement, Victor Adetolaju stressed the importance of empowering young Africans with practical trade knowledge and economic opportunities.

According to him, the vision is to raise a generation of student leaders equipped to actively participate and lead within Africa’s expanding global trade environment.

He noted that youth-focused institutions have a critical role to play in shaping the continent’s economic future through innovation, partnerships, and entrepreneurship.

The initiative aligns with broader continental efforts aimed at promoting inclusive economic growth, sustainable development, and deeper intra-African trade integration.

The Association for Students Social Welfare, through its Students Chamber of Commerce, has continued to champion youth empowerment, leadership development, and strategic partnerships as tools for strengthening Africa’s position in global commerce.
