The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) on Sunday, June 28, 2026, applauded the Nigerian judiciary for restoring hope and reinforcing public confidence in the rule of law, as the Council celebrated what it described as a landmark victory with a Special Thanksgiving Service in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The thanksgiving gathering brought together members of the National Executive Council, state chairmen, affiliate bodies, youth leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, development partners, and other stakeholders who joined the Council in expressing gratitude to God for His guidance, protection, and faithfulness throughout a challenging period.

Speaking after the service held on Sunday, the Deputy President of the NYCN, Amb. Innocent Nduanya N., said the outcome of the legal process has reaffirmed the belief that justice remains the foundation of democracy and the hope of ordinary citizens.

According to him, the judiciary’s commitment to fairness, independence, and due process has strengthened confidence in Nigeria’s democratic institutions and demonstrated that justice can prevail despite challenges.

“The judiciary restored hope at a critical moment and reaffirmed the principle that the rule of law remains the bedrock of every democratic society. We commend the courage and professionalism displayed in the pursuit of justice,” he said.

Nduanya described the victory as one that transcends the National Youth Council of Nigeria, noting that it belongs to millions of Nigerian youths who stood firmly for justice, accountability, and institutional integrity.

The Council also extended appreciation to Nigerians at home and abroad for their prayers, support, and solidarity throughout the period, describing the overwhelming backing as evidence of the public’s commitment to justice and good governance.

Special recognition was given to NYCN Diaspora Chapters across the world for their unwavering support and belief in the Council’s vision and leadership.

The NYCN further acknowledged the contributions of youth organisations, civil society groups, traditional institutions, religious leaders, development partners, donor agencies, security agencies, humanitarian organisations, diplomatic missions, and members of the media for standing with the Council during the period.

Describing the victory as the beginning of a renewed chapter, the Council pledged to deepen its commitment to youth empowerment, leadership development, entrepreneurship, innovation, peacebuilding, civic participation, and sustainable national development.

It also called on governments at all levels, development partners, and private sector organisations to strengthen collaboration with NYCN structures across the country to advance initiatives that create opportunities for young Nigerians.

The Council urged youth leaders and stakeholders nationwide to embrace unity, reconciliation, and collective responsibility, stressing that the victory should serve as a catalyst for building a stronger, more credible, and more impactful youth movement.

According to the Council, the triumph is not that of any individual or group but a victory for justice, democracy, the rule of law, and every Nigerian youth who believes in transparency, accountability, and good governance.
