UNILAG Alumni Hail Collins Idahosa’s Historic Emergence as First-Ever NYCN Governor, Back His Administration

Alumni of the University of Lagos have congratulated Ambassador Collins Osazee Idahosa on his historic emergence as the first-ever Governor in the history of the National Youth Council of Nigeria and the first democratically elected Governor of the NYCN Diaspora, while pledging their support for his administration.

The alumni described Idahosa’s emergence as a landmark achievement for Nigerian youths at home and abroad, noting that his leadership journey exemplifies dedication to service, youth development and nation-building.

In a statement, the group said Idahosa, an alumnus of the University of Lagos where he studied Philosophy, has distinguished himself through years of active engagement in youth leadership and diaspora affairs, culminating in his historic election to lead the NYCN Diaspora.

According to the alumni, his emergence reflects the confidence reposed in him by Nigerian youths across the world and underscores the growing importance of structured diaspora participation in national development.

The group commended Idahosa’s efforts in fostering unity among Nigerian youths abroad and strengthening the institutional framework of the NYCN Diaspora through strategic engagement and advocacy.

It noted that under his leadership, the diaspora structure has witnessed increased participation, stronger coordination among chapters and renewed commitment to advancing the interests of young Nigerians living outside the country.

The alumni further stated that Idahosa’s achievements have brought pride to the University of Lagos community and demonstrated the positive impact of visionary leadership.

Expressing confidence in his capacity to deliver on his mandate, the group pledged its support for his administration and urged Nigerian youths across the diaspora to rally behind initiatives aimed at promoting unity, accountability and sustainable development.

The alumni said they were optimistic that his tenure would strengthen the voice of Nigerian youths globally, deepen collaboration with stakeholders and create new opportunities for youth empowerment and international engagement.
