Amb. Victor Adetolaju’s commitment to student welfare and youth empowerment took the spotlight at the Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) Welfare Summit 2026, where students and stakeholders gathered to explore strategies for improving student well-being through collective action.
Held under the theme, “Strengthening Students’ Well-being Through Collective Action,” the summit featured Amb. Adetolaju as a Special Guest. Although he was unable to attend physically, his keynote address was delivered by Ejibunmi Caroline, an entrepreneur, Guinness World Record holder, and instructor with the university’s Entrepreneurship and Vocational Development (EVD) Directorate.
The audience responded enthusiastically to the message, which chronicled Adetolaju’s journey from his undergraduate years at the institution to becoming a leading advocate for student welfare in Nigeria.
In the address, he reflected on the establishment of the Association for Students Social Welfare (ASSW) in 2017, explaining that the initiative was created to tackle the welfare challenges he witnessed during his time as a student.

A major highlight of the summit was the recognition of the university’s Entrepreneurship and Vocational Development Directorate, an initiative Adetolaju helped establish in collaboration with the institution’s management to equip students with practical entrepreneurial and vocational skills.
Caroline’s success story was also celebrated during the event. Having started her entrepreneurial journey through the EVD programme, she has gone on to earn global recognition while mentoring and empowering thousands of young people through vocational training and entrepreneurship.
In his message, Adetolaju urged students to embrace leadership and take responsibility for shaping the future.
“By virtue of the education you are receiving in this citadel of learning, leadership is already upon you. You are not just preparing for the future; you are the architects of it,” he said.
Participants described the summit as a platform that reinforced the importance of collaboration in advancing student welfare, entrepreneurship and leadership development.
Organisers noted that the event reflects the institution’s continued commitment to creating opportunities that enhance students’ academic experience while preparing them for productive careers and meaningful contributions to society.
Amb. Victor Adetolaju is a social impact strategist, youth leader, Founder of the Association for Students Social Welfare (ASSW), and Chairman of the Students Chamber of Commerce. He is widely recognised for promoting youth empowerment through education, entrepreneurship and civic engagement.
