Abducted NYSC Member Freed After Terrorists Collect N10m Ransom, Motorcycles in Zamfara

A member of the (NYSC) who was abducted by terrorists in has been released after his captors reportedly collected a ransom of N10 million along with two brand-new motorcycles.

Sources familiar with the incident said the motorcycles were delivered to the terrorists on Monday as part of the conditions for the corps member’s release.

According to reports, the victim’s family and associates had earlier paid the N10 million ransom demanded by the abductors.

Additional demands before release

Despite receiving the ransom, the terrorists allegedly made further logistical demands, insisting that two new motorcycles be provided before they would free the corps member.

After the motorcycles were delivered, the abductors reportedly released the victim.

Photos circulating online showed one of the suspected terrorists standing beside the two motorcycles while another appeared to be communicating on a mobile phone.

Disturbing video of torture emerges

Earlier reports revealed that the abducted corps member had pleaded for help after being subjected to severe torture while in captivity.

In a disturbing video that surfaced online, the victim—speaking in Hausa—was seen surrounded by armed bandits who flogged and assaulted him repeatedly while he begged for his life.

The footage showed the injured corps member lying on the ground as the attackers struck him with sticks and continued beating him despite his repeated appeals for mercy.

Throughout the video, the victim cried out to Nigerians for help, saying his life was in danger due to the relentless torture.

Rising cases of abduction in northern Nigeria

Kidnappings and bandit attacks have continued to affect several communities across northern Nigeria, with students, travellers and youth corps members increasingly targeted by criminal groups seeking ransom payments.

Security experts have repeatedly called for stronger measures to curb the growing wave of abductions across the region.
