Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu officially assumed office as the 23rd Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Thursday in Abuja.
At the handover ceremony, he assured corps members and staff that their welfare would be his top priority throughout his tenure.
Nafiu pledged to provide transparent and effective leadership, ensuring corps members have a memorable and fulfilling service year experience.
He also promised to enhance the job-matching programme, helping corps members secure employment in the private sector after service.
Additionally, he vowed to improve camp feeding and hygiene standards, ensuring better living conditions for corps members nationwide.
Acknowledging NYSC’s role in national unity since 1973, he urged staff to serve as exemplary role models to young graduates.
Before his appointment, Nafiu was Chief of Staff to the Chief of Army Staff and has a strong academic background.
He holds a Master’s in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College and a Master’s in International Affairs from ABU Zaria.
