The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reported 33 fatalities from road accidents in Edo State between January and February 2025.
According to Sector Commander Cyril Mathew, 35 accidents occurred within this period, affecting hundreds of passengers.
In January, 17 crashes involved 119 people, resulting in 15 deaths and 69 injuries across the state.
February recorded 18 accidents, with 171 passengers affected, leading to 18 fatalities and 69 injuries.
Mathew attributed the incidents to speeding, brake failure, reckless driving, phone usage, and route violations.
He urged motorists to avoid overloading, night travel, excessive speeding, and drunk driving to reduce fatalities.
The FRSC is intensifying road safety campaigns to educate drivers and prevent further casualties.
Mathew called on stakeholders to support efforts in achieving zero-road traffic deaths in Edo State.
