The Federal Government has officially begun paying the backlog of the upgraded N77,000 monthly allowance to former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
This development brings relief to many ex-corps members who completed their service before March 2025 but were left waiting for the balance after the new allowance was announced.
Back in September 2024, the government approved a significant raise in the NYSC allowance—from N33,000 to N77,000—in line with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.
Although the new payment structure only took effect in March 2025, it was made clear that those who had already passed out would also receive their due arrears.
For many young Nigerians, this payout is more than just money—it’s a long-awaited acknowledgment of their service and a small but meaningful financial boost in challenging economic times.
