Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the state.

Speaking during the official closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area, the governor assured the corps members of adequate security measures throughout their service year.

Governor Alia acknowledged the security challenges faced in some communities across the state due to unprovoked attacks. However, he stressed that additional security personnel have been deployed to vulnerable areas as part of proactive efforts to safeguard lives, including those of serving corps members.

“My administration will not relent in addressing insecurity in the state. We are working closely with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to provide lasting solutions and ensure a safe environment for all,” he said.

The governor urged corps members to confidently proceed to their places of primary assignment, assuring them that their safety remained a top priority of the government.

Governor Alia also issued a stern warning to government ministries, agencies, and private organisations against rejecting corps members posted to them. He reiterated the enforcement of the state’s policy on non-rejection of corps members and said any organisation found violating the directive would face sanctions.

In her address, the Benue State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Veronica Garba, congratulated the corps members for successfully completing the orientation course. She commended their discipline, resilience, and active participation throughout the camp activities.

“I urge you to maintain the good conduct you have shown here and commit yourselves to serving your host communities with dedication and respect for their cultural values,” she advised.

Mrs. Garba encouraged the corps members to remain selfless in their service, noting that their contribution could significantly impact community development across the state.
