NYSC Set for Digital Overhaul of Mobilization Process, DG Reaffirms

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has recommitted to driving a fully technology-powered mobilization process to tackle rising system threats and improve service delivery for Corps Members nationwide.

Speaking at the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Pre-Mobilization Workshop held in Abuja, the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, emphasized the need for continuous ICT integration, cybersecurity enhancement, and data verification training for mobilization officers.

With the theme “Strengthening the NYSC Mobilisation Process through Improved Technology and Collaboration with Stakeholders,” General Nafiu highlighted the increasing cyber threats facing the Scheme and stressed the urgency of reforming NYSC’s operations to meet modern standards.

He said the NYSC remains determined to embrace technology and upgrade the mobilization process through improved digital infrastructure, staff retraining, and closer collaborations with Corps-producing institutions.

“In today’s fast-changing world, we must deploy technology to boost efficiency, protect sensitive data, and eliminate delays and fraudulent entries in our mobilization system,” Nafiu stated.

He urged all stakeholders, especially academic institutions, to fast-track technological upgrades to ensure accurate data upload, seamless collaboration, and eliminate enrollment of unqualified graduates.

Despite progress in digital reforms, the DG acknowledged lingering challenges such as data mismatches, system errors, and manipulation of records but affirmed NYSC’s readiness to address these with smart digital solutions.

Director of Corps Mobilization, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, noted that the workshop provides a crucial platform for NYSC, tertiary institutions, and partners to tackle these challenges and further strengthen the Scheme’s operational integrity.

Abubakar emphasized the need for diligence and high-level integrity from mobilization officers to ensure only qualified graduates are mobilized to serve the nation.

This renewed commitment by NYSC aims to create a secure, transparent, and tech-driven mobilization process that will safeguard national values and improve service delivery for Nigerian youth.
