Discipline, Self-Reliance Key to NYSC — Lagos Coordinator

The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Lagos State, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, has charged members of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream I to approach their service year with a sense of discipline, unity, and purpose.

Speaking during the official briefing at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Mrs. Salmwang warmly welcomed the Prospective Corps Members (PCMs), urging them to see their deployment as an opportunity to contribute to nation-building while fostering personal development.

She reiterated that the NYSC scheme was established to promote national integration, and reminded the PCMs of the four cardinal programmes of the service year: Orientation Course, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service (CDS), and Passing-Out Parade (POP).

While emphasizing the importance of adhering strictly to camp rules and regulations, the Coordinator cautioned corps members against involvement in drugs, cultism, and other forms of social misconduct. She also advised them to remain security-conscious and maintain responsible conduct throughout their service year.

Mrs. Salmwang further encouraged the PCMs to actively participate in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, noting that the initiative is designed to equip them with practical skills that would foster self-reliance beyond their service year.

On health matters, she informed the corps members that the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) provides free health insurance coverage for all serving corps members, ensuring their access to quality healthcare throughout the duration of the service.

She also reminded the PCMs of the importance of using social media responsibly, emphasizing that their conduct online should reflect positively on the image of the NYSC.
