PCMs Charged on Discipline, Commitment as Orientation Course Begins in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Samson Ateli, has charged members of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream I to adopt a disciplined and committed approach to the orientation course to maximize its benefits.

Addressing the prospective corps members (PCMs) at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Kubwa, Abuja, Mr. Ateli underscored the importance of fully participating in all camp activities, which are designed to equip them with the necessary skills and values for national service.

The Coordinator outlined the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC — Orientation, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service (CDS), and Passing Out Parade (POP) — stressing that success in each phase hinges on discipline and active engagement.

He provided detailed insights into various aspects of the orientation course, including corps members’ entitlements, feeding arrangements, sports, lectures, and most importantly, the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme. Mr. Ateli encouraged the corps members to take SAED seriously, describing it as a pathway to self-reliance and post-service employability.

In a stern warning, the NYSC FCT boss cautioned against the circulation of unverified or fake news on social media that could tarnish the image of the scheme. He noted that such actions would not be tolerated and urged the corps members to represent the NYSC with integrity and responsibility both online and offline.

Mr. Ateli wished the prospective corps members a memorable and impactful orientation course experience, expressing confidence that their time in the camp would be both rewarding and transformative.
