The welfare and security of Corps members in Anambra State received fresh assurances as Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, hosted the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, during a courtesy visit at the Government House, Awka.
Mrs. Ojisua highlighted the operational needs of the scheme in the state, calling for government support in key areas to enhance the living and working conditions of Corps members.
Responding, Governor Soludo commended the contributions of Corps members to community development across Anambra, describing them as critical partners in the state’s progress.
Reflecting on his own service year in Oyo State between 1984 and 1985, the Governor shared how the scheme broadened his perspective and immersed him in diverse cultural experiences. “The NYSC helped me conquer culture shock,” he recalled. “It was in Ife that I first tasted amala, ewedu, and ikokore. Those experiences shaped my outlook in many ways.”
He further pledged that his administration would continue to prioritize the welfare, security, and overall productivity of Corps members serving in Anambra.
