Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening support for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state, following the resumption of Orientation Camp activities after a 13-year suspension due to insurgency.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Yushau Dogara Ahmed, at the Government House in Maiduguri, Zulum highlighted how the return of the NYSC camp has revitalized socio-economic activities in Borno.
He commended corps members, particularly medical personnel deployed across the state’s health facilities and schools, for their contributions to healthcare and education.
The governor also revealed ongoing plans to expand accommodation at the NYSC Borno State Permanent Orientation Camp to facilitate a full resumption of activities.
In response, Brigadier General Ahmed expressed appreciation for the governor’s continuous support and assured him of NYSC’s commitment to complementing the state’s development efforts.
Earlier, the NYSC DG visited corps members at the temporary orientation camp in Government Day Secondary School, Maiduguri. He advised them to be responsible on social media, adhere to the NYSC dress code, and uphold the values of the scheme.
Borno NYSC Coordinator, Comrade Adamu Jiya, disclosed that 991 corps members—577 males and 414 females—have been registered and are actively participating in orientation activities.
