The All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election has cleared Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo to contest the party’s primary election.

In its official report presented to the National Working Committee (NWC), the seven-member panel chaired by Rt. Hon. Raheem Tunji Olawuyi confirmed that both aspirants satisfied all constitutional and party requirements.

However, Engr. Kayode Ojo was granted only provisional clearance due to his inability to secure the mandatory threshold of five valid nominators per local government, coupled with a weighty petition filed against him. His case has now been referred to the APC National Working Committee for further review.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi was disqualified after failing to provide evidence of being a financially up-to-date member of the APC, as required by Article 9(1) of the party’s constitution and Section 177(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The screening exercise took place on September 23 and 24, 2025, at Amor Hotel, Katampe, Abuja.
The committee urged the party to consolidate unity and cohesion among its members to strengthen its chances of winning the 2026 Ekiti governorship election.
