The Federal Government has resolved the long-standing issue surrounding the mobilization of Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), ensuring that only full-time HND graduates are now eligible for participation.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, confirmed this development following discussions with the NYSC Director-General, emphasizing that part-time HND graduates remain ineligible for mobilization.

The decision marks a major breakthrough for full-time HND graduates, who were previously excluded from the NYSC scheme. It underscores the government’s commitment to fairness, equity, and inclusivity in the nation’s education system.

To ensure a smooth mobilization process, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has been instructed to fast-track the collation of data for eligible HND graduates. As part of this directive, all Rectorates of Polytechnics have received a circular mandating them to upload necessary graduate data to a newly created HND admission portal.

Dr. Alausa reiterated that only those who completed a full-time HND program will be mobilized, highlighting that the new database will address past documentation challenges and streamline the mobilization process.

He urged all eligible full-time HND graduates to seize this opportunity and proceed with their NYSC mobilization without delay, reaffirming the government’s commitment to fostering equal opportunities for all qualified Nigerian graduates.
