The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Tuesday, July 15, 2025, as a public holiday in honour of the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari.

This announcement was made in a statement issued by Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, on Monday, July 14, 2025.

According to the statement, the public holiday is part of the seven-day national mourning period declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the passing of the former Nigerian leader.

“This holiday is a mark of respect to commemorate the life and service of the former President Muhammadu Buhari,” the statement read.

The Federal Government further urged Nigerians to use the day to reflect on Buhari’s contributions to the nation and to uphold the values of patriotism and unity.

Meanwhile, tributes have continued to pour in from around the country and beyond, celebrating the late President’s legacy.
