A self-acclaimed cleric, AbdulRahman Bello, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command for allegedly murdering a final-year student, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, for ritual purposes.

How It Happened
Yetunde, a student at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, went missing on February 10, 2025, after attending a naming ceremony. Witnesses said she was eating at the event when she received a phone call and left, never to return home.

Investigations revealed that Bello had lured her through Facebook, where he obtained her phone number under false pretenses and invited her over. When she failed to return home, her worried parents reported her missing to the Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin.

Using her phone records, the police tracked her last call, leading them to Bello’s residence at Offa Garage. Initially, he denied involvement, but after a search, he confessed that Yetunde had visited him but died from an asthma attack.

The Shocking Discovery

  • Upon searching his house, police found:
  • Yetunde’s dismembered body hidden in a bowl.
  • Tools used to dismember the body.
  • A table set up for body mutilation, suggesting he may have committed similar crimes before.
  • Bello, the son of a prominent late cleric from Isalekoto, was immediately arrested.

Police Response
Confirming the incident, Police PRO SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi described it as gruesome. She stated that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Authorities have assured that justice will be served, as investigations continue into whether Bello had other victims.
