The morning silence at Solution One Hotel in Ago Oko, Abeokuta, was shattered by an eerie stillness on Saturday at 6 a.m.
It was supposed to be another routine day, but something felt wrong. The hotel’s bar assistant, Taiyelolu, had been trying to reach his supervisor, Mr. Adedokun Oluyemi, without success. Calls went unanswered, and knocks on his door were met with silence.
Worried, Taiyelolu pushed against the door, only to find it locked from within. Panic set in. He gathered his courage, forced the door open, and stumbled upon a chilling sight—Oluyemi lay motionless on the bed, his body eerily still.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, he alerted the police at the Oke Itoku division, and within moments, officers arrived. Ogun State Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, later confirmed that the first responders found no visible marks of violence on Oluyemi’s body.
“The police emergency unit, under the directive of the divisional police officer, immediately transported Mr. Oluyemi to the State Hospital in Ijaye, Abeokuta,” Odutola stated. But it was too late. Doctors pronounced him dead shortly after arrival.
As grief settled over the hotel, the Ogun State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) took over the case to conduct a thorough review of the initial findings. Meanwhile, Oluyemi’s body has been deposited at the State Hospital mortuary for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Odutola assured that the police are actively investigating the incident and working to support the bereaved family.
In her words, “Till then, the command commiserates with the colleagues and family of the deceased while emphasizing the importance of medical checkups and insurance for employees.”
For now, the once-bustling Solution One Hotel stands in hushed sorrow, as staff and patrons grapple with the mystery of a man who went to sleep and never woke up.
