The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the temporary suspension of its domestic passport application portal due to an ongoing system upgrade and maintenance.
The upgrade, aimed at enhancing user experience and service efficiency, was announced via the NIS official X page. According to the agency, the maintenance process is expected to conclude within 72 hours.
The NIS clarified that the system upgrade impacts only passport applications within Nigeria. Applications processed outside the country remain unaffected, ensuring continuity of service for Nigerians abroad.
In its statement, the NIS extended an apology for any inconvenience caused and assured the public of its commitment to resolving the issue swiftly. A dedicated team is reportedly working to complete the upgrade and restore full portal functionality promptly.
“We are working tirelessly to complete the upgrade and restore full service within the next 72 hours,” the statement read.
The agency reiterated its dedication to delivering efficient and reliable services to Nigerians, expressing gratitude for public patience during this period. “The Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to serving you efficiently and excellently,” the statement added.
The NIS advised applicants to remain patient as the portal is expected to resume full operations shortly.
