The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has reaffirmed the Scheme’s commitment to continuous capacity building for NYSC officers to ensure greater efficiency and productivity.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of a capacity-building workshop for Planning, Research, and Statistics (PRS) Officers, held at New Keffi Hotel in Keffi, Nasarawa State, General Nafiu charged officers to be proactive and committed to improving their operational delivery.

Represented by the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Dr. Ahmed Wada Ikaka, the NYSC DG stated that regular training and workshops remain a top priority under his leadership, aimed at enhancing the performance of NYSC officers across Nigeria.

He encouraged participants to fully engage with the workshop, absorb new knowledge, and adopt modern strategies to meet the ever-evolving demands of the Scheme. General Nafiu assured that NYSC management would continue to provide platforms for professional growth to improve service delivery nationwide.

In his welcome address, Dr. Ikaka, through the Deputy Director of Research, Mr. Stephen Dewan, highlighted the PRS Department’s critical roles, including planning, coordination, research, data analysis, monitoring, and evaluation of NYSC programs.

The workshop, he added, is a strategic effort to equip NYSC officers with advanced knowledge and practical skills required to drive the Scheme’s objectives in line with national development goals.

The NYSC capacity building program marks another step towards fostering a more efficient, informed, and productive public service workforce.
