Bobrisky Calls EFCC the “Most Wicked Organization in Nigeria”

Nigerian transgender influencer, Bobrisky, has stirred controversy with scathing remarks against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), labeling it the “most wicked organization in Nigeria.”

Bobrisky’s criticism followed the EFCC’s appeal to Nigerians for empathy over the death of one of its officials during a night operation in Anambra State. In a series of Instagram Stories posted on Monday, the influencer accused the EFCC of hypocrisy and claimed that the police were significantly better in their conduct.

“I just don’t like reading about the EFCC online because I feel like I want to throw up each time I read about them,” Bobrisky wrote.

The influencer recounted a personal encounter with the EFCC, alleging mistreatment while in the commission’s custody. “You’re asking the public to be human over the loss of your staff, but you are the most wicked people in Nigeria. When I was in your custody, you took me to my house and searched it. You claimed I was into money laundering and wanted to check if I was printing money in my house,” Bobrisky added.

The remarks have drawn mixed reactions, with some sympathizing with Bobrisky’s experience and others condemning the timing and tone of the comments, especially in light of the EFCC’s loss.

The EFCC has yet to respond to the allegations. Meanwhile, Bobrisky’s statements have reignited debates around the commission’s operations and the public perception of law enforcement agencies in Nigeria.
