Ex-Convict Arrested with Human Skull at Ogun Burial Ground

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, has apprehended a 54-year-old man, Adelani Oriyomi, for allegedly attempting to exhume a human skull at a burial ground in Kere, Obada-Oko, Abeokuta.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by So-Safe Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, through Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, the suspect was caught during a routine patrol on January 21, 2025.

Ganzallo disclosed that officers observed suspicious activity near a church and found Oriyomi hiding. After the officers temporarily left, the suspect resumed digging but was apprehended before he could escape.

Oriyomi reportedly confessed to exhuming a skull on January 18, 2025, for use in a ritual preparation called “Osole.” He admitted to being a serial offender, having sold nearly ten skulls in the past, and revealed he had previously served prison terms for similar offences.

The recovered exhibit, a dried human skull, and the suspect have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Obada Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation.

Ganzallo urged community leaders to screen tenants and visitors to enhance security and prevent criminal activities.
