FG Approves NYSC Mobilization for Affected polytechnic Graduates

The Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, has approved a memo for the mobilization of polytechnic graduates previously excluded from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, has approved a memo for the mobilization of polytechnic graduates previously excluded from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

This decision follows complaints from graduates who completed their National Diploma (ND) through part-time programs but later pursued a full-time Higher National Diploma (HND). These graduates had been disqualified from NYSC participation, leading to protests and appeals to authorities.

During a visit to Yaba College of Technology in Lagos, Dr. Alausa confirmed the approval of a memo to the NYSC Director-General, with a scheduled meeting to ensure the issue is resolved within two weeks.

The minister’s intervention follows a request from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to the NYSC, advocating for the mobilization of the affected graduates.

Dr. Alausa reassured the graduates that they should not be disenfranchised from the NYSC program. He also urged them to remain patriotic and avoid sharing negative narratives about Nigeria on social media.

With the minister’s approval, expectations are high that the issue will be swiftly resolved, allowing the affected graduates to participate in national service.
