……..FESSU Backs Call for ₦77,000 NYSC Minimum Wage

The Federation of Ekiti State Students’ Union (FESSU) has announced a strategic partnership with Corpers Journey Media and Advocacy, a platform committed to promoting opportunities for students and young graduates.

The collaboration aims to enhance student welfare, skill development, and leadership training for Ekiti State students.

Speaking on the partnership, Comr. Benjamin Adekunle Onileowo, the Incumbent and 18th National President of FESSU, emphasized the importance of media advocacy in amplifying student-focused initiatives.

Benjamin expressed confidence that the collaboration would help expand opportunities for Ekiti students, ensuring they have access to platforms that promote career advancement and professional growth.

“This partnership will provide a platform to expand student access to life-changing opportunities, ensuring they are prepared for both academic and professional growth.

We recognize the immense value in Corpers Journey’s media and advocacy efforts and will continue to work together to amplify these initiatives for maximum impact,” Onileowo stated.

Corpers Journey Backs Call for ₦77,000 NYSC Minimum Wage
Beyond student empowerment, Corpers Journey Media and Advocacy has thrown its weight behind calls for improved welfare for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, particularly on issues related to accommodation and financial support.

During the announcement, FESSU President Onileowo urged the Federal Government to implement the ₦77,000 minimum wage for corps members, emphasizing that while the amount may not be sufficient, it would provide much-needed financial relief for young graduates.

“The accommodation crisis is not exclusive to corps members—it is a broader issue affecting young professionals across the country. Implementing the ₦77,000 minimum wage will help alleviate some of the financial challenges faced by corps members,” Onileowo said.

Supporting this stance, Taiwo Ajayi, CEO of Corpers Journey Media and Advocacy, emphasized the need for better welfare and empowerment opportunities for Nigerian graduates.

“As a media advocacy platform, we believe that improving the financial situation of corps members is critical for national development.

A well-supported NYSC scheme will allow young graduates to focus on acquiring skills and contributing meaningfully to society,” Ajayi noted.

Additionally, Abiodun Adeniwo, a representative of Corpers Journey, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting student-led initiatives that address key challenges in education, employment, and entrepreneurship.

“We will continue to use our platform to advocate for better policies that directly impact young graduates. Corpers Journey is committed to promoting entrepreneurship, leadership, and career growth opportunities for Nigerian students,” Adeniwo stated.

Both FESSU and Corpers Journey Media and Advocacy have assured students that the partnership will prioritize programs that enhance career readiness and economic empowerment.

“We remain committed to working with stakeholders to create more opportunities for Ekiti students. This partnership will drive meaningful change and ensure our students are positioned for success,” Onileowo concluded.

The collaboration marks a major step in advancing student development, with both organizations optimistic about its long-term benefits for Nigerian students and young graduates.
