The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has announced that corps members will begin receiving a monthly allowance of N77,000 starting in February 2025.
Speaking to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina on Thursday, Ahmed confirmed that the increase has been included in the 2025 Federal Government budget.
“This month (January) has already ended, but once the budget is passed, by next month (February), you will start receiving N77,000 instead of the usual N33,000,” he stated.
The NYSC DG emphasized that the new allowance was approved by the Federal Government, urging corps members to reciprocate the government’s commitment through dedication and service.
He also reassured corps members of their welfare and security, stating that they will not be deployed to areas facing security threats.
“We will not send our corps members to locations with security challenges. Wherever we post them, they should be assured that the area is safe for them to serve,” he added.
The increase in allowance is expected to boost morale and improve the financial well-being of corps members nationwide.
