Protesters have shut down Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s office in Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State, following the killing of five farmers by armed herdsmen.
The attack, which occurred on Wednesday morning at Aba Oyinbo in Akure North Local Government Area, has sparked outrage among residents. The protesters displayed the bodies of the slain farmers at the governor’s office, demanding justice and immediate action against the rising insecurity in the state.
This incident follows an earlier reprisal attack this month, where several people were killed in four communities within Akure North.
In addition to shutting down the governor’s office, protesters have also blocked the Akure-Owo highway at Ogbese, leaving many motorists stranded.
Governor Aiyedatiwa has summoned security chiefs for an emergency meeting, pledging to deploy modern security equipment to tackle the crisis.
More details to follow.
