NYSC Clamours on LGIs to Leverage Technology in Performing Duties

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) management, have called on all Local Government Inspectors (LGIs) to strengthen the use of digital tools to ensure innovation, efficiency, and improved service delivery.

The call was made by the Acting Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mr. Kwaghe Joseph Vandi, while speaking during a Capacity Building Workshop for the LGIs in Abuja.

According to him, the workshop was aimed at reiterating the Scheme’s commitment to fostering the adoption of technology to ensure smooth efficiency of the NYSC process.

He maintained that the digital age demands the use of digital tools, hence the reason behind the NYSC’s decision to transform several of its procedures to catch up with technological advancements.

He added that the transitioning has resulted in a drastic transparent process, improved accountability, and increased efficiency,

“The introduction and expansion of initiatives such as the NYSC Integrated System (NIS), the monthly biometric clearance and several other ICT-driven platforms have significantly improved transparency, accountability and efficiency in the Scheme’s operations.”

He further stressed that the achievements and long-term developments of the technological process lies in the hands of the Local Government Inspectors.

“However, the success and sustainability of these innovations depend largely on our Local Government Inspectors.”

Explaining the motive behind the workshop, he stated that it was organized as a strategic move to improve human capital, equip participants with on-demand digital skills, which will eventually encourage confidence, innovation and efficiency in the NYSC digital processes.

Similarly, the Director, Corps Welfare and Health Services, Mr. Omotade Ayodele, in his speech emphasized the importance of integrity among the participants, in the course of discharging their official assignments.

Speaking to the LGIs, he mentioned the need for adherence to the rules and regulations of the NYSC, including maintaining firmness, vision minded, and applying empathy, while carrying out their duties in their respective stations.
