NYSC Corps Member Renovates Classroom Block, Donates 50 Desks to Adamawa Primary School

A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving in Adamawa State has renovated a classroom block and donated 50 classroom desks to Numan I Primary School in Numan Local Government Area as part of his Community Development Service (CDS) project.

The Corps member, Igba Civirter Barnabas, with State Code AD/25B/1034, executed the project to improve the learning environment for pupils and teachers. The project was commissioned on July 3, 2026, with the support of stakeholders and members of the Numan community.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Head Teacher of Numan I Primary School described the intervention as timely, noting that the renovated classrooms and new desks would significantly enhance teaching and learning in the school.

The Local Government Inspector, Mr. Nelson Hyellamada, commended the Corps member for identifying and addressing a critical need within the school, describing the project as a worthy contribution to educational development in the community.

Representing the Adamawa State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Osoroh Caroline Chinedu, the Zonal Inspector, Mrs. Keziah J. Anto, lauded the quality and relevance of the project. She said the intervention reflected the objectives of the NYSC Community Development Service, which encourages Corps members to contribute meaningfully to the development of their host communities.

In his remarks, Barnabas urged fellow Corps members and young Nigerians to make effective use of available resources to address challenges in their communities, stressing that community development projects should focus on improving lives and providing practical solutions to identified needs.

The project was officially commissioned by an Assistant Director from the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, Mrs. Jummai Wange Kwache, whose official assignment in Adamawa State coincided with the event. She commended the initiative and encouraged Corps members across the state to undertake impactful projects that would advance the ideals of the NYSC Scheme and positively impact their host communities.

The ceremony featured cultural performances, an educational debate by pupils, inspection of the renovated classroom block and newly donated desks, as well as goodwill messages from stakeholders and members of the host community.
