Ekiti Governor Vows to Improve Lives of Armed Forces, Residents

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has reiterated his commitment to improving the welfare of servicemen, war veterans, and residents of the state through enhanced infrastructure, human capital development, and good governance.

Speaking at a ceremony in Ado Ekiti to mark the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the governor, represented by Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, praised the patriotism and sacrifices of the Nigerian armed forces. He acknowledged their critical role in maintaining peace and securing the nation’s territorial integrity.

“Your sleeplessness, restlessness, and commitment are the reasons we can all go about our daily businesses with the conviction of coming back unhurt,” Oyebanji stated. He further highlighted the state’s support, including a personal donation and the government’s contribution of ₦10 million to support the Legionnaires.

The governor emphasized ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure, create jobs, enhance food security, and strengthen security. He also appealed for unity among citizens to confront Nigeria’s insecurity challenges, urging cooperation and tolerance to foster peace and national growth.

“As we reflect on the sacrifices of our fallen heroes, let us unite and confront the insecurity threatening our socio-economic growth,” he added.

The ceremony underscored the state government’s dedication to honoring the contributions of the armed forces and ensuring their welfare remains a priority.
