Federal Medical Centre Staff Dies After Jumping Into Well

Tragedy struck in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as Oluwaseun Adeniji, a staff member of the Audit Department at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, reportedly died after jumping into a well in the Obantoko area.

The incident occurred on Sunday night shortly after he had dinner.

While the exact motive for his actions remains unclear, sources revealed that Adeniji had been battling mental health challenges and had previously undergone treatment.

The hospital’s Head of Public Relations, Dr. Segun Orisajo, confirmed the incident, describing the news of Adeniji’s death as a shock to the entire hospital community.

“The sudden death of Mr. Adeniji Oluwaseun under a questionable circumstance is a painful loss to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta,” Orisajo said. “He was a dedicated, loyal, and hardworking staff member. His death was unexpected as he had been active at work almost all of last week.”

The hospital’s Medical Director, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu, extended heartfelt condolences to Adeniji’s family and colleagues, praying for comfort during this difficult period.

As of the time of this report, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, had yet to respond to inquiries regarding the incident.

The tragic loss has left many grieving, reigniting conversations about the importance of mental health awareness and support.
