The Federal Government has officially added the Chinese language, Mandarin, to the national curriculum for senior secondary schools across Nigeria.
FCT Education Secretary, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, announced the development during the launch of Abuja’s 14th Chinese Corner. He highlighted Mandarin’s increasing global relevance in commerce, education, culture, and international relations. According to him, equipping Nigerian students with the language will open vast opportunities on the world stage.
The curriculum review is part of ongoing efforts to prepare young Nigerians for global competitiveness while strengthening Nigeria–China ties in education and trade.
