Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, officially presented the certificate and staff of office to the newly appointed Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, during a ceremony held at the Oyo State Government House in Agodi, Ibadan, on Monday.
The presentation marks a significant step for Oba Owoade, who was recently announced as the Alaafin-elect by the state government on Friday. He succeeds the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, the 44th Alaafin of Oyo, who passed away two years ago.

The event was witnessed by key government officials and dignitaries, as well as traditional leaders and supporters of the new monarch. Oba Owoade’s enthronement is expected to herald the commencement of important cultural and traditional rites that are central to his role as the Alaafin of Oyo.
The new Alaafin is set to begin the 21-day traditional rites that will formalize his ascension to the throne, marking the start of his reign as the revered monarch of Oyo.
