As the 2025 Batch A Stream II Orientation Course draws to a close, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr. Agbor Ndoma Obim, today debriefed Corps Members at the Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede. The debriefing focused on critical expectations and responsibilities as the Corps Members prepare to proceed to their Places of Primary Assignment.
Addressing the Corps Members at the parade ground, Agbor emphasised that discipline, accountability, and patriotism must remain the guiding principles throughout the service year. He stressed the necessity of adhering to security protocols, maintaining proper conduct at the workplace, and actively contributing to community development.
“Security is paramount and it’s a collective responsibility. Always carry your NYSC ID card, wear your uniform properly, and report any suspicious activity in your community or place of residence to your LGI,” he declared.
Speaking on the monthly allowance, Agbor clarified, “Payment of allowance is not automatic. You must work for it. NYSC will not pay anyone who absents themselves from duty. You must report at your PPA and diligently carry out your responsibilities.”
He further explained that Corps Members must obtain and submit a performance evaluation letter from their employers to their Local Government Inspectors (LGIs) as a prerequisite for payment. “Without that clearance, you will not be cleared or paid. It proves that you are present and contributing meaningfully,” he added.
The Coordinator warned against risky behaviors such as unauthorised travel and nightlife. “Avoid traveling at night, clubbing, or attending parties. These are high-risk activities. Your safety comes first and NYSC will not be held accountable for incidents arising from such conduct,” he cautioned.
Deployment to various local government areas across four zones, namely Osogbo, Ife, Ilesa, and Ikirun begins tomorrow. Agbor encouraged Corps Members to report promptly to their assigned LGAs and embrace the opportunity to serve with a sense of duty and humility.
“You are ambassadors of the NYSC and of your families. Be courteous, diligent, and respectful at your PPA. A good attitude can open doors far beyond your service year,” he said.
Agbor also emphasised the importance of initiating and executing Community Development Service (CDS) projects. “It’s not just about winning awards,” he said. “It’s about the lasting impact you make in your host communities.”
He urged all Corps Members to actively participate in the post-camp phase of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme. “Many before you have started thriving businesses through SAED. Take it seriously. You may be the next successful entrepreneur Nigeria is waiting for.”
Earlier, Mrs. Omoboade Adesina, the Assistant Director Corps Inspection and Monitoring, introduced the four Zonal Inspectors and Local Government Inspectors in the State to the Corps Members.
The three Corps Camp Directors, the overall parade commander and his assistant received commendations for their outstanding contributions to the successful conduct of the Orientation Course.
Agbor concluded the debriefing with a final charge to serve with purpose and integrity, thereby making the service year count.
