The Transmission Company of Nigeria The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) refutes claims of a blackout and asserts that the power grid remains intact.

The recent power outage was attributed to line tripping and not a complete grid failure. TCN emphasizes the stability and functionality of the power grid amidst recent challenges.

In a statement released on its official X handle on Saturday, TCN explained that on February 12, a fault on the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330kV transmission line led to a cascaded outage, affecting power supply in Abuja, Lagos, and Osogbo.

However, TCN assured that bulk power supply has since been fully restored to the affected areas, while other parts of the country remained unaffected.

The company also emphasized that the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) is regulated by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), and only the National Control Centre (NCC) or its backup, the National Supplementary Control Centre (SNCC), is authorized to provide official grid status updates.

TCN urged the public and media to refrain from spreading unverified or misleading information about the national grid.
