What Mohbad’s Father Revealed Years After His Son’s Death

Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Mohbad (real name Ilerioluwa), has shared his reflections on life after his son’s tragic passing, revealing that his circumstances improved following Mohbad’s death.

In a recent interview with media personality Akin Abolade (Mrlilgaga), Aloba opened up about how the spirit of his late son and divine intervention have brought positive changes to his life. He expressed gratitude, saying, “Let me just say yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he was my friend.

He had plans to do many things for me, but those around him did not allow him to do so. After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad, and that of God combined, that began to send people to assist me.”

Aloba went on to explain that the gifts he has received, including a car, came from compassionate individuals, attributing them to divine and spiritual guidance. “It is the spirit of Mohbad and God that led those people to give me all I have now. These were the things he was meant to do for me, but they didn’t allow him to fulfill those promises,” he added.

In addressing public speculations about those allegedly involved in his son’s life, Aloba specifically pointed to Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, and her family. He claimed they took possession of all Mohbad’s properties, including land he had bought for his father to build a church, which was later used for his burial.

He further recalled how just two weeks before Mohbad’s passing, his son had shown him a house he was planning to buy after his tour, a purchase he had already fully paid for.

Aloba also reflected on how his son’s birth prompted his own journey into music, noting that after money meant for the naming ceremony was stolen, he turned to singing. Mohbad, he recalled, had been a backup singer for him from the age of one.

Describing himself as a carpenter, singer, and pastor (without a church), Aloba shared how his son had promised to build one for him before his untimely death. During the interview, he proudly showed off a truck and a Toyota Highlander vehicle, gifts he received from Nigerians moved by his son’s passing.

Despite the pain of losing his son, Aloba revealed that he has continued to create music, releasing about nine tracks since Mohbad’s death. Mohbad passed away on September 11, 2023, at the age of 26, under circumstances that have raised questions.

The Lagos State Police Command arrested a nurse reported by Mohbad’s wife for allegedly administering a Tetanus vaccine to him. The nurse was later found to be unlicensed and was taken into custody on September 19, 2023.
