180 Female Corps Members Begin Free Business Training in Anambra

A total of 180 female corps members in Anambra State have commenced a three-day intensive entrepreneurial training designed to equip them with essential business skills and empower them for post-service self-reliance.

The training, which runs from July 7 to 9, 2025, is part of a nationwide initiative by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) targeting 5,000 young women across the country. The Anambra leg of the programme is being held at the NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp in Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area.

Delivered in collaboration with the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) of Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, the programme offers participants access to high-value resources at no cost. Corps members are learning how to structure and manage businesses, explore funding opportunities, register their ventures for free, and build customized growth plans under the guidance of seasoned entrepreneurs and industry experts.

In addition to expert-led sessions, the participants will also receive one-on-one business advisory support and earn a certificate of participation upon completion.

Speaking at the opening session, NYSC Anambra State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, encouraged the corps members to actively engage in the programme, describing it as a rare opportunity with long-term benefits.

“This training could be a turning point in your journey toward financial independence. I urge every participant to take it seriously and make the most of it,” she said.

The initiative is one of NYSC’s strategic efforts to tackle youth unemployment by equipping young women with practical skills and business knowledge to become successful entrepreneurs.
