Corps Members Hurt in Structural Incident at Ekiti NYSC Camp
Several corps members in Ekiti State sustained injuries after a wall in one of the hostels at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Ise-Emure collapsed.
The incident took place in the women’s section of the camp on Friday morning, during the three-week mandatory orientation exercise for new corps members posted to the state.
An eyewitness at the camp stated, “The wall of one of the female hostels collapsed this morning (Friday). It was the bathroom wall that gave way while they were preparing to take their bath. Thankfully, people quickly intervened to rescue them from the rubble. The injured have been stabilized at the clinic and will receive further medical care.”
An NYSC official confirmed the incident, noting that only two corps members were affected and have been stabilized at the camp’s clinic. He reassured parents, guardians, and stakeholders that the situation is under control and that the corps members are safe.
Despite repeated complaints over the years about the poor condition of the NYSC camp structures in Ekiti State, adequate renovations have not been carried out.
