Explosion at Abuja School Kills One, Injures Four Others

A tragic explosion at an Islamiyyah school in the Kuchibiyu Community of Bwari Area Council, located about 42 kilometers from Abuja’s city center, has resulted in the death of one student and left four others injured.

The incident occurred around noon on Monday, January 5, 2025.

According to a security source, the explosion involved a suspected improvised explosive device (IED), which detonated while the deceased student was handling it. The explosion caused panic at the school, leading to injuries to four other students. Emergency responders, including the police bomb disposal squad, quickly arrived at the scene.

The injured students were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. As of the time of this report, the police have not yet issued an official statement, and the details surrounding the explosion remain unclear.
