The Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has urged the 2025 Batch B Stream II corps members posted to the FCT to remain committed to the progress and development of Nigeria.

She made this call on Friday during the Official Opening and Swearing-In Ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream II orientation course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Kubwa, Abuja.

Corps Members as Agents of Positive Change

Dr. Mahmoud, represented by the Mandate Secretary, Youth and Sports Development Secretariat, who also serves as Chairman of the NYSC FCT Governing Board, Hon. Lawal Kolo Geidam, said corps members are expected to build bridges of unity, empower communities, and leave behind a legacy of positive change.

“Through your comportment and activities, you will provide mentorship to our youths and spearhead development-oriented programs that complement the efforts of government,” she said.

She also advised corps members to embrace all camp training sessions and submit to the regimented lifestyle of orientation, stressing that this discipline would help them succeed during their service year.

FCT NYSC Coordinator Warns Against Indiscipline

Earlier, the FCT NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Samson Ateli, urged corps members to conduct themselves with discipline and orderliness. He warned that negative behaviors such as drug abuse and other anti-social acts would not be tolerated during camp or the service year.

He further encouraged corps members to comply with all hygiene and health protocols for their safety.

3,595 Corps Members Inducted

A total of 3,595 corps members—comprising 1,443 males and 2,152 females—were sworn into national service by the Hon. Chief Judge of the FCT, Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf, represented by Barr. Nnenna Iwotor, Head of the NYSC FCT Legal Unit.
