How Osun Bishop Was Stabbed to Death While Trying to Resolve Couple’s Dispute

Tragedy struck in Osogbo, Osun State, on Thursday as Bishop Shina Olaribigbe of Rapture Empowerment International was fatally stabbed while attempting to mediate a fight between an estranged couple.

The incident occurred in the early hours of the day when the husband, enraged upon finding the pastor at his wife’s residence, attacked him.

The wife, a member of Olaribigbe’s church who also served as an interpreter, had been living apart from her husband due to recurring disputes, although they were not legally divorced.

Sources revealed that the husband visited his wife’s home at the BCGA area of Osogbo, where he encountered Olaribigbe in the room. In a fit of anger, he allegedly stabbed the pastor multiple times in the chest. The pastor, who had reportedly been visiting the woman to check on her health, died on the spot.

Both the husband and the wife were arrested and are currently detained at the Dugbe Police Division in Osogbo. The body of the late pastor was taken to the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital morgue.

The Osun State Police Command confirmed the incident. Spokesperson Yemisi Opalola stated, “The couple is not living together and is not separated by law. The pastor used to mediate in their fights. On this occasion, the husband, acting on suspicion that the pastor was involved with his wife, stabbed him to death.”

The tragic death of Bishop Olaribigbe has left his congregation and friends in shock and grief. Many took to social media to mourn him, with one of his followers, Oyeleye Isaac, writing, “BREAKING AND VERY SAD NEWS, WE LOST ONE OF OUR HEROES, Bishop Dr Olaribigbe Greatness. Why! Why! Why?”

Another mourner, Mr. Bimbo, shared, “You called to wish me Happy Birthday yesterday,” expressing disbelief and sorrow over the pastor’s sudden death.

The incident highlights the tragic consequences of unresolved domestic conflicts and has left the community in mourning over the loss of a respected clergy member
