NYSC DG Urges Corps Members to Seek Approval for Travel During Service Year
YD Ahmed, the Director-General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has issued a strong warning to corps members to refrain from traveling without prior authorization from the relevant authorities.
Speaking during his visit to the orientation camps for the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream One in Bayelsa and Rivers states, Ahmed emphasized that any corps member who disregards this directive will face appropriate consequences.
He urged corps members to remain vigilant and avoid engaging in risky behaviors that could jeopardize their safety.
Ahmed also highlighted the importance of contributing positively to their primary places of assignment (PPAs) and the communities they serve. He encouraged them to undertake impactful projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life for local residents.
“You are required to attend all camp lectures, foster good relationships with your peers, and make a meaningful impact through beneficial projects at your PPAs and in your host communities,” Ahmed stated.
In addition, Obiageli Okpalifo, the NYSC State Coordinator for Bayelsa, reported that the corps members have adapted well to camp life. Similarly, George Mfongang, the Rivers State Coordinator, commended the 1,800 corps members—including 663 males and 1,137 females—for their demonstrated patriotism, discipline, commitment, enthusiasm, and respect for authority.
